The short answer is no, EPIC: The Musical is not made by artificial intelligence.
In an era where generative AI tools can instantly whip up synthetic vocals, simulated orchestras, and algorithmic lyrics, it is natural for modern listeners to second-guess what they hear online. Because EPIC: The Musical exploded into a massive cultural phenomenon primarily through digital spaces like TikTok and YouTube, it occasionally attracts skepticism or mistaken accusations regarding AI.
However, EPIC is quite the opposite: it is a triumph of entirely human-driven, grassroots artistic collaboration.
The Real Human Behind the Music
EPIC: The Musical is a sung-through concept album adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey, conceptualized, written, and composed entirely by Jorge Rivera-Herrans. What began in 2019 as a college creative project eventually blossomed into a multi-year labor of love.
